Stand-in skipper Jacob Bethell won the toss and, against the odds, decided to put Ireland in to bat. That, as it turned out, was a stellar decision! England’s bowling unit—most notably their spinners—were phenomenal, claiming six of the eight wickets. Adil Rashid led the charge, claiming three wickets for 29 runs while Jamie Overton and Liam Dawson each contributed with two wickets. Even though Sonny Baker underwhelmed, conceding 52 runs without taking a wicket, the bowling attack was simply magnificent.
