Eddie Howe, the 47-year-old manager of Newcastle United, hits an unexpected rock as he has been diagnosed with pneumonia. The unfortunate diagnosis made him miss the Premier League fixture against Manchester United. That means he’ll miss the weekend’s matches at Crystal Palace and against Aston Villa on Tuesday. Howe was hospitalized Friday night after struggling with health complications for several days.
Howe’s recent hospitalization sent a unified wave of concern throughout the NHL community, from the fans to the players. His recovery has since been closely overseen by world-leading medical teams. Although he’s recovering now, he won’t play in the key matches to come. Howe has not been with the team, he has stayed in contact with his assistant manager Jason Tindall, who was appointed from his third place.
Communication with the Team
Before his hospitalization, Howe appeared confident about his team’s chances even then. He congratulated the players on their performance against Manchester United, which he was able to watch from his hospital bed. Tindall pointed out that Howe’s recognition of the team went a long way in raising their spirits as they navigate this difficult time.
“I’ve just seen a message from him before I came to do the press, congratulating the performance of everyone on the team. He was able to watch it and I’m sure that left him in good spirits.” – Jason Tindall
Even during his recovery, Howe remained committed to his position. He said he has confidence that his team will do great work in his absence. He has kept in close communication with Tindall, doing what he can to keep him plugged into the team’s progress.
Gratitude for Support and Care
As Howe looks to the further stages of his recovery, he’s had nothing but gratitude for those who were with him on the journey. He expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support from fans and the larger football community during this difficult period. Above all he thanks the National Health Service (NHS). The staff at this large, regional hospital has provided him with superb, specialized care.
“A huge thank you to everyone connected with Newcastle United and the wider football community for your messages and warm wishes. They have meant a lot to me and my family,” – Eddie Howe
“I also want to pay tribute to our incredible NHS and the hospital staff who have treated me. I’m immensely grateful for the specialist care I’m receiving and, after a period of recovery, I look forward to being back as soon as possible.” – Eddie Howe
Howe would be keen to make a swift return to Newcastle United. His pledge is a strong reflection of his love for the club and the fans. There is no doubt his return will be celebrated by Cardinal fans who can’t wait to see him prowling the sideline once again.
