The Houston Rockets have released an injury report stating that Tari Eason will be out four-to-six weeks. He is currently on the injured list with an oblique strain. This injury is one of many head injuries that have plagued Eason throughout his career. These faults have dogged him since the beginning of his professional career. Despite his undeniable talent, he has played in just 79 games the past two seasons combined.
Eason’s recent play had been encouraging, as he averaged 11.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in 11 games this season. In the Houston Rockets’ last game against the Portland Trail Blazers, Eason was limited to just 11 minutes of action. The coach decided to pull him early from the game. He finished with three points before suffering a right hip contusion that kept him out from the second half on.
Eason has yet to hit his ceiling as a prospect at just 24 years old, but persistent injuries have stunted his growth. Injuries and low playing time have impacted his personal numbers for his final season. Beyond that, it’s eroded the entirety of the team’s depth as they’ve worked through the season. The Rockets were hoping to invest in Eason’s tools to continue rounding out their roster. They were particularly thrilled by the meeting given his stellar start to the season.
The oblique strain is a difficult blow for Eason to take. He has had some standout flashes, but he has struggled to establish a court flow thus far. We already know that he can do the job well. With his departure, the team faces a major test in trying to fill the void he’ll leave behind.
