The 2025-26 NBA season continues to develop beautifully! Teams have begun to shape their identities post-week one buzz. While franchises wonder how to catch the top teams, the list continues to have some good surprises and a lot of chalk. The Atlanta Hawks, now 2-2 on the season, are down one spot from their start of 7. Meanwhile, the Oklahoma City Thunder impressively lead the league with a perfect 5-0 record.
As the league moves into its second week, teams are entering some important clashes that can change their fates. The Hawks’ first regular-season game will be against the Los Angeles Lakers on October 29. Following that, they’ll take on the Charlotte Hornets on November 1st and the Brooklyn Nets on November 3rd. The big names are out with injuries. With Anthony Edwards likely out for at least two weeks due to a hamstring injury, every game counts with respect to getting the best possible teams or perhaps most entertaining on the floor.
Atlanta Hawks Strive for Consistency
After a surprisingly rough couple of months, the Atlanta Hawks are currently at an inflection point. Their record of 2-2 thus far shows they have some work to do if they want to turn some heads this year. Once ranked 7th in the country, they are now looking to spark a rebound against three tough Ivy League foes.
Coach Quinn Snyder aims to harness the talent within his roster as they prepare for upcoming games. The Hawks need to work on improving their offensive efficiency even more, while getting serious in the other end of the court. These next games are going to be very important. A good run would not only increase their limelight, but improve team spirit!
“As long as we win, I don’t care. That’s the last thing on my mind.” – Karl-Anthony Towns, New York Knicks
Finally, the Hawks know all of this. Winning is the only thing that matters to them now. Every game represents a new chance to hone their approach and display their talent against elite competition.
Boston Celtics Struggling Early On
The Boston Celtics have faced their own struggles this season, sitting at 1-3 so far. Considering their last-place 11 ranking, that means they’ve failed to meet expectations by quite a wide margin already this year. While the team has looked like a playoff contender at times, they’ve looked like a shell of that team with wild inconsistencies.
It’s clear that health and chemistry on the field are playing big roles in the way they’re playing right now. It’s enough to send Celtics fans and analysts alike clamoring to see if the Celtics can get back on track with a more favorable schedule ahead. They need to clean up their defensive breakdowns, and they need to finish the jobs on offense to move up from No.
The Celtics’ backslide raises concerns of whether the group can bounce back as a collective. They’ve always managed to recover from rocky beginnings in the past, but the early signs this season don’t instill much confidence.
Brooklyn Nets on the Rise
Unlike the Celtics, the Brooklyn Nets have gotten off to a strong start this season. Based on a record of 2-2, they have surged up from their former ranking of 27. With their aggressive nonstop press, the Lions’ last few games indicate a squad starting to figure it out and hit its stride.
Perhaps even more impressive has been the Nets’ consistently impressive play at least for the most part against better teams. Their recent games have highlighted improvements in both offensive execution and defensive cohesion.
NBA fans can’t wait to see some of the potential upcoming matchups, including the Philadelphia 76ers vs. Atlanta Hawks. They’re counting on this positive momentum to continue moving forward. If they save their assets and continue on their current trajectory, the Nets may soon find themselves in the thick of contention in the Eastern Conference.
Other Notable Performances
The two teams that have received the most buzz as of late are the Golden State Warriors and Oklahoma City Thunder. At this point, the Warriors have proven themselves 4-1 with a physical brand of teamwork, motion, and fire on both ends of the court. Coach Steve Kerr recently commented on the impact of player performances, noting:
“The way he’s rebounding, the way he’s attacking the rim, that’s what makes him special. When he’s playing to that talent, to that ability, it changes our team.” – Steve Kerr, Golden State Warriors
At the same time, the Thunder improved to 5-0, continuing their unbelievable unbeaten streak. Their impressive opening to the season has quickly made them the darlings of the “who’s going to snag the last playoff spot” conversation.
Or the poor Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers, who are already embroiled in an early-season fire drill. The Bulls are currently 2-2 and the Cavaliers are 1-3.
