The Philadelphia Eagles have added depth to their defensive lineup by signing former New York Giants pass rusher Azeez Ojulari to a one-year contract. The 24-year-old linebacker, known for his explosive speed and agility, joins the Eagles after demonstrating significant potential during his tenure with the Giants. Ojulari, who was drafted in the second round from the University of Georgia, has accumulated impressive career statistics, including 107 tackles and 22 sacks over 46 games.
Ojulari made a notable impact in the recent season, stepping up his performance when fellow teammate Kayvon Thibodeaux was sidelined due to injury. During this period, Ojulari amassed five sacks in a remarkable three-game streak, showcasing his capabilities as a formidable pass rusher. However, his progress was halted after suffering an injury to a big toe ligament, which ultimately placed him on injured reserve. Fortunately, Ojulari did not require surgery for the injury.
In addition to the toe injury, Ojulari faced challenges with ankle and hamstring injuries throughout 2023. These setbacks resulted in him missing the final six games of the past season. Despite these obstacles, Ojulari's career statistics reflect his potential as a valuable asset to any defensive unit. His rookie year was particularly promising, as he played in all 17 games and recorded eight sacks.
