It was a match that ended with Luton Town edging Forest Green Rovers 4-3 in a pulsating FA Cup First Round Replay on Saturday. The game, marked by dramatic momentum shifts, culminated in a stoppage-time winner from Gideon Kodua that propelled Luton into the second round of the prestigious tournament.
The match started with both sides showing a lot of attacking intent. Luton’s only lead came on Nahki Wells’ first goal, his parry of a shot that created an assist for Lamine Fanne. Fanne showed great accuracy as he fired the ball into the roof of the net to hand Luton the early advantage.
Robbie Savage – battled back superbly. Tom Knowles’ attempt on goal deflected off Teden Mengi, catching goalkeeper Josh Keeley off guard and leveling the score at 1-1. Teden Mengi was instrumental in the match. In the 51st minute, this incident from the box earned him a foul and penalty against Forest Green.
Kyle McAllister made no mistake with the penalty, crashing the ball down into the bottom corner and sending Forest Green into a 2-1 lead. Luton responded with determination. The visitors struck back again with another perfectly orchestrated aerial march, bringing it to 2-2.
