In another exciting IPL match today, Sunrisers Hyderabad went head-to-head against Delhi Capitals. Pat Cummins and Jaydev Unadkat, left, put on a spectacular bowling display that left batsmen humbled with each ball. Key players never found their rhythm as the game developed. At the same time, some of the rest put together truly heroic performances that swung the scorecard dramatically in their favor.
The game began in a shocking fashion for Sunrisers Hyderabad as Manish Nair got out on duck (0 runs). Nair was sent back by Cummins, who had him out with a quick bouncer that was beautifully taken by Ishan Kishan. Just four balls after the earlier wicket of Markram fell, Faf du Plessis became another victim after just fulfilling his 50 runs, arriving in form. Yet once again Kishan held him up, helping set up another key Cummins wicket with his accurate keeping.
Hyderabad’s misery deepened when trails Anuj Porel was dismissed without scoring runs as well. He too fell to Kishan, caught behind and bowled by Cummins, who was truly magnificent throughout the game. The team’s batting woes dragged on as KL Rahul only managed 43 runs before he was dismissed by Unadkat and caught by Kishan again.
Amidst the batting challenges, one player stood out: Patel. His consistency shone through as he scored 71 runs. He blew them away with performances of 86 and 88 in the subsequent innings. Scoring 17 points, Patel’s fearless execution helped turn the tides on a game for the ages. He went on to add 67 runs there too, which was testament to his superb ability to build partnerships and to anchor the innings.
The bowling unit were so disciplined that no no-ball was ever bowled during the entire match. The overall total extras for the game was only 3 runs, that’s how tight and disciplined the bowlers were.
As the match wore on, it was evident that Cummins and Unadkat were employing an impressive, disciplined, bowling plan. Combined, their efforts severely limited the scoring opportunities for the other side. This electric final underscored the key role strong bowling and fielding duos play in T20 cricket.
