Dolphins Secure Cole Strange as Depth After Daniels Injury

The Miami Dolphins are doing everything they can to make sure their offensive line is strong. They claimed Cole Strange off waivers from the Cleveland Browns’ practice squad just days before their Week 2 matchup against the New England Patriots. This offseason move comes as a direct response to the injury that starting guard James Daniels suffered. He was already on injured reserve with a pectoral injury sustained in the season opener. Daniels is expected to miss several games, with a potential return not slated until Week 6 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

It certainly helps Cole Strange, who was taken 29th overall by the New England Patriots in 2022. He has earned experience. He’s started 30 career games, primarily at left guard. That solid start led to the Patriots releasing him last month. This was a savvy move that enabled the Dolphins to acquire him as they address their existing roster challenges. New head coach Mike McDaniel is confident that Strange will be able to come in and contribute immediately at the next level.

The Miami Dolphins are looking ahead to their upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns. They’re hoping to stay competitive enough to be able to land Daniels. Besides adding Strange to help shore up the offensive line. This line is essential to keeping quarterback Tua Tagovailoa upright and creating running lanes for the tailbacks. There’s no need to point out that Strange knows the league like the back of his hand. His experience in high-pressure situations should make him a critical player in the rematch.

With all these developments buzzing, trade speculation around star wide receiver Tyreek Hill gained serious momentum earlier this week. ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter set out to address all these rumors on The Pat McAfee Show. He proudly declared on the show there’s zero chance the Dolphins will trade Hill today. Hill continues to be an invaluable resource in the team’s final two crucial games before they advance to the postseason.

While the Dolphins continue to solidify their lineup, they remain focused on executing their game plan effectively against both the Browns and, subsequently, the Chargers in Week 6. The second challenge is that the team has to adjust on the fly with injuries or mid-roster changes. Their success in the highly competitive AFC landscape will depend on it.
