The Miami Dolphins have officially released veteran running back Raheem Mostert, a move announced on Friday. Mostert, who signed with the Dolphins in 2022, departs the team after three seasons. During his tenure, he amassed an impressive 2,181 rushing yards and scored 28 total touchdowns. His agent, Brett Tessler, confirmed the news on social media platform X, marking the end of Mostert's dynamic presence in Miami's backfield.
Mostert's career with the Dolphins reached its pinnacle in 2023 when he was selected for the Pro Bowl. That season, he achieved a career-high by rushing for 1,012 yards and scoring 18 touchdowns. He led the NFL with 21 total touchdowns during that standout season, solidifying his reputation as a formidable force on the field. However, despite his contributions, the Dolphins have decided to part ways with the 32-year-old running back.
"Looks like my client Raheem Mostert will be playing elsewhere next season," – Brett Tessler.
The Dolphins' decision to release Mostert reflects a strategic move to rejuvenate their roster. His departure leaves De'Von Achane and Jaylen Wright as the remaining key players in Miami's backfield. Achane, who worked as the team's feature back last season, is expected to continue shouldering a significant portion of the rushing responsibilities. Meanwhile, Mostert will look for opportunities to continue his career and perhaps pursue a championship ring with another franchise.
Apart from his rushing prowess, Mostert showcased versatility as a dual-threat player. Last season, he led all NFL running backs with 78 catches and 592 receiving yards. Additionally, he recorded 50 tackles and one fumble recovery during his time with the Dolphins, highlighting his capability on both offense and defense.
"Very thankful for his time with the Miami Dolphins, and this gives them a chance to get younger and gives him a chance to pursue a ring elsewhere." – Brett Tessler
