Cade Cunningham, the standout player for the Detroit Pistons, will not participate in the upcoming game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. As for Cunningham, he’ll sit out for the third game in a row as he deals with a bruised calf injury. He suffered the injury last week when playing against Dallas. The Pistons’ talented guard, who has been pivotal in the team’s resurgence, is currently listed as day-to-day with this injury.
Cunningham became the first overall selection in the 2021 NBA Draft. Now, he’s free and has become an indispensable piece to Detroit’s lineup. He has put up jaw-dropping numbers of 25.7 points, 9.2 assists, and 6.1 rebounds per game. Those numbers just go to show his well-roundedness on contributions to the team. Oh, by the way, his stellar play this season has made him a prime All-NBA candidate. Moreover, he has had a key hand in leading the Pistons to escape with at least a non-losing record on the year.
Nonetheless, Cunningham’s absence is a crushing blow to the Pistons. At least, the latter could not have happened without him being their driving force on the court. His leadership and red-hot play have propelled the squad to several key wins. They’ll definitely be short his services when they host the Cavaliers in their next game in nine days. National team management felt that the best course of action was to rest Cunningham. They are looking to ensure that he has completely healed from the calf bruise.
