Detroit Lions Center Frank Ragnow Will Not Play This Season After Failing Physical

Frank Ragnow, the four-time Pro Bowl center for the Detroit Lions, is out for the year. If he has indeed failed a physical examination. The 27-year-old athlete has made headlines recently with his ambitious plans to come out of retirement. Unfortunately, he sustained a high Grade 3 hamstring strain, which has removed him for the rest of the year at this point. The team’s medical staff revealed this disturbing news shortly after Ragnow showed up at the facility on Friday.

Ragnow’s decision to return came with considerable excitement from the Lions’ coaching staff. Certainly, Head Coach Dan Campbell was “fired up” at the thought of Ragnow’s return. With the unexpected recent disclosure of the severity of his injury, the mood inside the organization has changed drastically.

Of course we’re disappointed just because Frank is such a good dude and a great teammate and he’s a productive player, but at the same time he’s injured too, Campbell said, underscoring the level of respect the team holds for Ragnow’s contributions on and off the field.

From his rookie season in 2018 onward, the Lions have thrown a lot of responsibility on Ragnow’s plate. No question, his absence will be felt by the team. Ragnow, a guy who earned the nickname “Man of Steel” for his dedication and toughness, has never been about his own success, anyway. The Detroit Lions expressed their admiration, stating, “Frank has always been a team-first guy and is a true warrior.”

For the moment, conversations about what’s next for Ragnow after this season are still hypothetical. The team has not ruled out whether he could return in 2026. This has left fans and basketball pundits trying to forecast what’s next for the former Reigning NCAA Player of the Year.

Ragnow is an inspiration in his professional career as well. Most importantly, he’s an enthusiastic dad to his son Ethan. It’s his passion for family and football that has made him the explosive leader that has won over all of his teammates and fans to this day.

So dude, you get right off of that fast and just understand what it is and he’s not joking around, put in Campbell’s place, recognizing that even the best team needs to have the flexibility to adjust in the face of unforeseen circumstances.
