Detroit Lions’ Amon-Ra St. Brown Faces Potential Two-Week Absence Due to Ankle Injury

Amon-Ra St. Brown, the standout wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, is likely to miss one to two weeks due to an ankle injury sustained during a recent game. That injury unfortunately ended an impressive streak of 70 straight games with at least one reception. This accomplishment links him for the fifth-longest reception streak by a Lions wide out dating back to 1970.

During the game, St. Brown demonstrated his talent by high-stepping into the end zone for a 22-yard touchdown with just 25 seconds remaining before halftime. He remained on the turf for a minute or two, sparking fear from his fellow offensive linemen. Miraculously, Penei Sewell and Jared Goff were there to get to his side immediately and protect him. St. Brown immediately hobbled off the field and gingerly contrived his exit to the locker room.

It remains dubious. Lions head coach Dan Campbell should have more information this Friday. With the team floundering around four or five other critical injuries, St. Brown’s absence makes this one especially alarming.

This season, the 23-year old St. Brown has put up some eye-popping numbers, with 75 catches for 884 yards and nine touchdowns. He has made immeasurable contributions in these areas to the team. A team captain and franchise player in his fifth season with the Lions, he has received All-Pro honors.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff acknowledged the implications of St. Brown’s injury, stating, “We certainly know that this was consequential for division rankings and whatnot, but yeah, we’ve got to win the next one and find a way to beat Dallas.”

Campbell did have some encouraging news to report on St. Brown’s condition. Hunter’s rehab assignment begins, but remains a question mark as to how long he’ll be out.

“So that’s the good news, but that doesn’t mean it won’t be here for, could be a week or two maybe, if we’re lucky,” – Dan Campbell
