Derik Queen, a standout player for the Maryland Terrapins, announced his decision to enter the 2025 NBA Draft during an appearance on “SportsCenter with Scott Van Pelt” on Friday. The 6-foot-10 center has been the subject of plenty of buzz, most prominently that he could go as high as No. 10 overall in ESPN’s most recent mock draft.
He was named Associated Press All-America and was awarded first-team all-Big Ten! His dazzling play led Maryland to the NCAA tournament Sweet 16. In perhaps his worst overall matchup against Florida, he put up 27 points on the Gators, despite the team’s ultimate loss 87-71.
During the postseason, Queen averaged 18.7 points across three NCAA tournament games, showcasing his talent and enhancing his draft stock. His poise in the pocket has earned him high praise from the fans and scouts for times to come.
In his announcement, Queen shared that he is thankful for his support system. He dedicated his mother for her consistent love and support along his journey.
