Bryson DeChambeau’s Crushers team blasted its way to the LIV Golf League championship match. Their other triumph came in a dramatic contest on Saturday against LIV Golf’s Talor Gooch. This triumph carried Legion XIII into the final, where they will look to win their first championship.
Crushers and Legion XIII aren’t the only teams in the championship showdown. The South African Stinger squad, whom the Hammerheads defeated in round robin play, will meet them in the final for revenge. The Stinger crew had placed seventh in the regular season point standings. Perhaps most notably, they took down Sergio Garcia’s Fireballs and beat Joaquín Niemann’s Torque team in a tense showdown during their remarkable stretch. Though their success has been surprising, it has made this year’s championship finale that much more intriguing.
Throughout the season, the Crushers consistently ranked as one of the top teams, finishing first and second in the standings. Their lights-out run through the playoffs only underscored how thoroughly they crushed their competition. Brooks Koepka at the top of his game overwhelmed Anirban Lahiri. This win served to showcase the variety of talent on all the teams that competed in the Smash league.
