DeAndre Hopkins has stepped into the Baltimore Ravens' facility with a clear mission: to make an immediate impact. On his first day, he signaled his readiness by asking to see the training room for a quick workout before addressing the media. Hopkins, who recently signed a one-year, $5 million contract with the Ravens, brings a wealth of experience and talent to the team. Despite posting a career-low average of 10.9 yards per catch last season, Hopkins remains optimistic about his ability to contribute significantly to the Ravens' offense.
A veteran wide receiver with an impressive track record, Hopkins leads all players with 984 receptions and 12,965 receiving yards since entering the league in 2013. His sure hands and ability to execute contested catches make him a valuable addition to the Ravens' receiving corps. Hopkins expressed confidence in his skill set, stating:
"I've never been a 4.3 or 4.4 [40-yard dash] guy, but I'm able to make plays on the ball and contested catches," – Hopkins
At 32 years old and entering his 13th NFL season, Hopkins joins a rare trio of three-time All-Pros alongside quarterback Lamar Jackson and running back J.K. Dobbins. Despite being five years removed from his last Pro Bowl appearance and having achieved only one 1,000-yard season in the past four years, Hopkins remains focused on enhancing the Ravens' offensive capabilities.
With a drop rate of just 1.6% since 2013—the fifth-lowest among wide receivers with 500 targets—Hopkins aims to complement the team's young wideouts, Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman. He is more focused on imparting his wisdom and experience to these emerging talents, ensuring they flourish alongside him.
In addition to his on-field contributions, Hopkins is optimistic about the Ravens' competitive spirit. His enthusiasm was echoed by teammate Ronnie Stanley, who remarked:
"I had a huge smile on my face when we signed 'D-Hop,'" – Ronnie Stanley
Hopkins himself praised the team's competitive nature:
"From the head coach down, I feel like they compete [and] they're dawgs," – Hopkins
As Hopkins integrates into the Ravens' system, he is hopeful that his contributions will lead to success for the team:
"Hopefully enough to win a lot of games," – Hopkins
He remains unsure of specific personal milestones but is confident in his ability to exceed expectations:
"So I don't have a number, but hopefully more than a little bit." – Hopkins
