Dante Fowler, the talented edge rusher initially drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars as the third overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, has navigated a career filled with ups and downs. After missing his rookie season due to a torn ACL sustained during a spring practice, Fowler has worked tirelessly to establish himself as a formidable force on the field. His journey saw him achieving double digits in sacks for only the second time in his career during his tenure with the Dallas Cowboys, where he secured 10.5 sacks over the course of two seasons.
Fowler's path took a significant turn when he was traded by the Jaguars to the Los Angeles Rams in October 2018. This move proved beneficial for the edge rusher, as he achieved a career-high of 11.5 sacks the following year. Fowler attributes much of his development as an edge rusher to Ryan Kerrigan, the outside linebackers coach, who played a pivotal role in refining his skills.
In 2022, Fowler signed a one-year deal with the Dallas Cowboys valued at $6 million, with potential earnings increasing to $8 million through incentives. During his two seasons with the Cowboys, he recorded a commendable 10.5 sacks, showcasing his ability to contribute significantly to team defense. Despite these achievements, Fowler decided to leave the Cowboys and join the Washington Commanders.
At 30 years old, Fowler demonstrated his prowess once again with the Commanders, recording the second-most productive season of his nine-year career in 2024. This resurgence comes after a period where he amassed just 17.5 sacks over four seasons prior to his time with the Commanders.
