Dak Prescott continues to impress as he embarks on his tenth NFL season. His gaudy numbers this year have led to him being compared to his dominant 2023 season. As the winner of 128 starts, Prescott serves as more than just a crafty veteran presence. He’s a dangerous competitor. His completion percentage of 71.6 sits at fourth in the league, a testament to his accuracy and efficiency while playing at a much more efficient pace.
So far this season, Prescott has passed for 1,617 yards. He is second only to the Los Angeles Rams’ Matthew Stafford. He has racked up 13 touchdown passes, second only to Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff. Over these last three games, Prescott has really opened our eyes. He’s tossed 10 touchdown passes—he even rushed for one—and has completed 74 percent of his passes on 103 attempts.
He is known for frequently alluding to index cards he’s maintained on coordinators over the course of his career, allowing him to pivot in weekly tests. But even with all of the pressure and expectations piling up, Prescott has graciously taken it all in stride and never once complained or bitched.
“He’s always, ‘Hey, focus on details, execution,’” – Tyler Smith
Prescott points to his teammates as a big reason for his success and the impact they had on his game. He complimented Joe Milton III for showing a focus on the little things, like balance on drops. This commitment to fundamentals is obviously paying off. Prescott’s performance has perhaps even been better than what he accomplished in 2019, when he finished as a near-unanimous runner-up for MVP behind Lamar Jackson.
>In reflecting on his own performance, Prescott said he was “disappointed” and wanted to do better.
“I want it to be higher than that,” – Dak Prescott
His commitment to excellence is clear—you can tell when he gets upset with incompletions unless those incompletions are throwaways on purpose.
“I don’t like any incompletions unless it’s truly just throwaways,” – Dak Prescott
As fellow teammate Micah Parsons observed, Prescott has a special presence about him, similar to that of star quarterback, Joe Burrow.
“I don’t think anybody’s surprised by the fact he’s playing great,” – Brian Schottenheimer
Quarterback Will Grier said that Prescott’s ability to govern the game showed deep understanding and preparation.
“One-hundred percent. There’s nobody else I’d rather have,” – Micah Parsons
As the season progresses, Prescott’s ability to lead and perform at an elite level will be pivotal for his team’s success. His commitment to just pure preparation and being a team guy just shows the maturity that comes from being in the league for significantly longer.
“I don’t think anything catches him off guard,” – Tyler Smith
Quarterback Will Grier added that Prescott’s command of the game demonstrates a high level of understanding and preparation.
“To me, Dak’s just doing quarterback Level 300 kind of stuff,” – Will Grier
As the season progresses, Prescott’s ability to lead and perform at an elite level will be pivotal for his team’s success. His dedication to preparation and teamwork reflects a maturity that comes with years of experience in the league.
