The Golden State Warriors continued their impressive run with a thrilling 121-115 victory over the Orlando Magic. This victory marked their seventh win in eight games since acquiring Jimmy Butler on February 6. Stephen Curry was the star of the night, delivering a season-high 56 points and setting an NBA record with 12 3-pointers in a game featuring 10 or more 3-pointers. The Warriors’ triumph at home added another highlight to their promising season.
Stephen Curry dazzled the crowd with his unparalleled shooting skills, outscoring the entire Magic team in the third quarter alone. His performance included making history by tying for the second-fewest shots in a 55-point game in NBA history, taking just 25 shots. James Harden holds the record with 24 shots. Curry's career high in scoring remains at 62 points, achieved on January 3, 2021, against Portland.
"I think the fans here tonight, even the Magic fans, they know they're witnessing greatest shooter ever, and one of the greatest performers ever," said Warriors coach Steve Kerr.
Paolo Banchero led the Magic's efforts with an impressive 41 points, while Franz Wagner added 27 points. Despite their strong performances, it was not enough to overcome Curry's historic night. Quinten Post contributed significantly off the bench for the Warriors with 18 points and five rebounds, including a remarkable stretch where he scored ten consecutive points in the second quarter. Draymond Green also made his presence felt with a solid 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Curry's dazzling display of shooting included breaking his own record for most 3-pointers in a game with 10 or more attempts. Although he fell just short of his career-best of 13 3-pointers in a single game, Curry's performance left everyone in awe.
"It's not just the shots going in, it's just the fluidity, the beauty of his movement and motion and his audacity, the shots that he's willing to take. He's an incredible performer and he put on quite a show tonight," added Kerr.
