The Dallas Cowboys have made their offensive line imposing! They picked up veteran Saahdiq Charles on a one-year contract. This change comes at a time when the Dallas Cowboys are trying to do everything they can to improve their roster before 2024 NFL season starts. Charles, originally a fourth-round pick by the Washington Football Team in 2020, has shown potential during his time in the league.
Charles has been an active player for 35 games in four seasons, starting 18 of those games. His multi-positional experience across both tackle and guard spots is a welcomed boon for the Cowboys as it gives him solidified, yet necessary, value. They are almost sure to use him on the interior line of their offense. This strategic signing continues in the team’s recent trend of working hard to add depth to their offensive line.
The Cowboys, trades or not, are first up on the clock with the newly minted 12th overall draft pick. They’re currently considering a bunch of new options, like Kelvin Banks Jr., Armand Membou, and Jonah Savaiinaea, who visited the team’s facilities last weekend. We’re thrilled Charles has come on board! In addition to his arrival, the Cowboys have brought in 12 new players via free agency and trades since mid-March.
After going undrafted last year, Charles signed with the Tennessee Titans as a free agent. No one doubted that he would win a starting role on the club. He surprisingly retired during training camp, causing his filing on the reserved/retired list. The Titans later cut him from that list, paving the way for Charles to start his return to the NFL.
Before inking a deal with the Cowboys, Charles had auditioned for the team last week. His performance during those 10 days apparently made a great impression on Sandy Alderson’s coaching staff, paving the way for this week’s signing. The Cowboys just signed offensive lineman Robert Jones to a one year deal, maximum value of $4.75 million. This decision further underscores their intent to firmly re-establish themselves with a powerful offensive line.
