The Dallas Cowboys have navigated a tumultuous season marked by challenges, including the tragic loss of former teammate Marshawn Kneeland. No one has overcome more than quarterback Dak Prescott. In 2025, he was at the peak of his powers, putting up one of his most impressive statistical lines following a rough year the season before. Prescott’s resilience is evident as he threw for 4,175 yards, along with 28 touchdowns and just 10 interceptions, showcasing his leadership and skill on the field.
Dak Prescott’s return to form after missing the final nine games of the previous season due to a hamstring avulsion has been a significant factor in the Cowboys’ performance this year. In last week’s game, he connected on a jaw-dropping 38-yard TD throw to rookie wideout George Pickens. This accomplishment marked Pickens’ fifth game with more than 100 receiving yards. This has turned out to be a massively successful trade for the team. Pickens has quickly become a major weapon within their offense.
What has been most troubling according to first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer is the general lack of consistency from the group. The Cowboys have struggled with a turnover ratio of minus-6 throughout the season, which has hindered their ability to secure victories. Schottenheimer stated, “At the end of the day the consistency has not been there,” highlighting the need for improvement as the team seeks to strengthen its performance in the remaining games.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hasn’t been quiet on Dallas’ struggles this season. He reminded them that they finished 28th in the league defensively last year. He noted that star linebacker Micah Parsons missed four games due to an ankle injury, which contributed to their defensive struggles. Jones commended the standout showcase of defensive stars Quinnen Williams, Kenny Clark and Osa Odighizuwa. What really struck us was their remarkable level of play.
“I’d like to think that with where we are, I’m not so sure that one position, one player, would have had us in necessarily a different situation.” – Jerry Jones
As the season progresses, it remains crucial for the Cowboys to address their defensive shortcomings while maintaining Prescott’s offensive momentum. The combination of Prescott’s leadership and the emerging talent of players like Pickens could be pivotal in turning around their season.
