Cleveland Browns Release Nyheim Hines Amidst Recovery Challenges

The Cleveland Browns announced the termination of running back Nyheim Hines' contract on Tuesday, marking the end of his brief tenure with the team. Hines, who was signed to a one-year deal last offseason, has been unable to make an appearance this season due to an injury sustained away from the field. The 28-year-old player was placed on the non-football injury (NFI) list while recovering from an ACL tear suffered during a personal watercraft accident in July 2023.

Hines began his NFL career with the Indianapolis Colts and later played for the Buffalo Bills, accumulating 2,980 scrimmage yards and 18 touchdowns over six seasons. Known for his versatility, he also returned two punts and two kickoffs for scores, showcasing his impact on special teams. The Browns had initially designated him to return to practice in mid-October but ultimately did not activate him to their 53-man roster following the end of his 21-day practice window.

Despite being in the final year of his contract, Hines' deal tolled to the 2025 season due to his entire season spent on the NFI list. However, his inability to participate in any games led the Browns to terminate his contract. This decision comes as a setback for Hines, who had already missed the previous season due to injury.
