Christian Barmore, a 26-year-old .@Patriots defensive lineman, right now. Under arrest, about to go to jail, at this moment. He’s been charged with misdemeanor assault and battery against a household member or family member. This charge comes from an alleged single incident of harassment that happened on August 8 and was formally filed on December 16.
Barmore is in his third year with the Patriots. The team selected him in the second round out of Alabama in 2021. He’s been a bellcow to this point in the season, playing all 16 games with 15 starts as a nuisance to opposing quarterbacks. Barmore ranks third on the D with 10 QB hits. In addition to that, he’s amassed 26 tackles and has one sack.
Barmore is accused of roughly grabbing the collar of a woman’s blouse, dragging her. This occurred as she was attempting to stand up. To be clear, the Patriots organization knew what they were doing when they did it and had been communicating with the NFL up front at the time.
Barmore’s arraignment is scheduled for February 3. This date comes just days before the Patriots finish their regular season at home against the Miami Dolphins. Despite those struggles, the Patriots have already secured their place in next month’s playoffs. They’ll face off for the title in Super Bowl LX on February 8th.
The attorney further stated, “Based on the facts and the law, we expect that this personal matter will be resolved in the near future and both parties will move forward together.”
