Chris Paul Returns to LA Clippers for Final NBA Season

In a web chat with fans, Chris Paul has formally returned to the LA Clippers. This will begin his 21st professional season and is anticipated to be his last in the NBA. Now at 40 years of age, Paul comes into the franchise much more experienced. Along the way he’s built a storied career and crashed through some major career milestones. His fans, his teammates, and all of us are looking forward to seeing him back out there. He wants to finish his storied career with one final run.

Paul was drafted fourth overall by the New Orleans Hornets in the 2005 NBA Draft. He soon proved all of them wrong by winning the NBA’s Rookie of the Year award in his first year. He’s had a groundbreaking career, logging 12,499 assists and 2,717 steals. That remarkable accomplishment places him second all-time in each category. He runs the show with mesmerizing first touch. His contributions on the defensive side of the ball are what made him one of the most impactful players in NBA history.

During his previous stretch with the Clippers from 2011 to 2017, Paul established himself as a franchise centerpiece. He logged 4,023 dimes, which is an all-time record for the Clippers. He was named to five All-NBA teams, the most in franchise history. He proved he could excel on basketball’s biggest stage. During those six seasons, he repped the Clippers as a five-time All-Star.

Last year, Paul was with the San Antonio Spurs and drew headlines (for good reason) when he suited up for all 82 games. He also became the first NBA player to play a full season in his 20th season or later. This amazing accomplishment speaks of his epic toughness and relentless drive to be the best. His leadership and playmaking skills will be needed as he heads back to a place where he’s most comfortable in transition.

As Chris Paul prepares for this final chapter, he carries not only individual accolades but the hopes of a franchise looking to make a significant playoff push. His reunion with the Clippers signifies both nostalgia and ambition, as he aims to impart his knowledge and experience to a younger roster while striving for one last championship opportunity.
