Charlotte Edwards Begins New Era as Head Coach of England Women’s Cricket

Charlotte Edwards has today been officially appointed the England women’s head coach. This appointment is another crowning achievement in her storied career. The former cricketer has a storied influence on the global game, both as a world class player and acclaimed coach. She is committed to making the team more accountable, particularly in regards to fitness.

Edwards, who debuted internationally in 1996, has been an inspiration for advocacy and change within the sport. She went on to appear in 143 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 82 Tests for England over her career. Playing as a right-handed batter and off-spin bowler, she was an exceptional talent and lead both on and off the field. Notably, she captained the England women’s cricket team from 2005 to 2011, during which she guided the squad to victory in the 2009 Women’s Cricket World Cup.
