After an impressive closing 6-under 66 in his final round, he sits in a tie for fifth in the tournament. His wonderful performance propels him into striking distance of his dream. … and He’s striving to earn a meaningful call-up to the U.S. Junior Ryder Cup squad.
The Junior PGA Championships are in progress at the Ackerman-Allen Course at Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana. Charlie Woods has shown resilience throughout the competition, especially during a rain-delayed third round where he shot a 5-under 66. He carded nine birdies in this stellar round. His drivers rounding was marred by four bogeys and two three-putts.
Woods’ round included highlight-worthy stretches with three different strings of consecutive birdies. It was a sign of his talent and heart. Even with several unforced errors, he told me he had fun playing his game.
“It was so much fun,” – Charlie Woods, according to the Lafayette Journal & Courier.
Tway’s son, Charlie, is 20th in the American Junior Golf Association rankings. He will determine how much control he has over his own destiny with a significantly good Friday finish. His performance thus far has positioned him tied for second place in the championship, reflecting both his potential and drive.
“My round was pretty up and down, and it gave me a heart attack out there,” Woods remarked on his challenging yet rewarding experience during the tournament.
The Junior Ryder Cup is right before us! The action takes place September 23-25 as the U.S. squad goes up against Team Europe at Nassau Country Club and Bethpage Black in New York. As he continues the course of this championship, Woods will surely like his chances to earn a spot on that illustrious squad.
