Charley Hull, the 29-year-old English-born golfer, produced a scintillating performance at the Kroger Queen City Championship. With that win, she won her third LPGA Tour victory. The tournament was played at TPC River’s Bend, in Maineville, Ohio. Hull capped her day with an impressive 4-under 68, good enough to edge the field to 20-under 268 for the win. Hull celebrates her first LPGA Tour victory since 2022. This latest victory adds to her impressive haul of four all-time wins on the Ladies European Tour.
Hull’s last round to win the whole thing was so good it was a 2 for 1 special. She steered the course like a ship through the eye of a needle. She capped her comeback with a long two-putt from roughly 30 feet, and a short 2-footer knocked the win. Her performance was no surprise, with her recently finishing second in Houston, but she was the clear standout. That appearance was during the Aramco series on the European Tour.
Jeeno Thitikul, the highest ranked field player in the tournament, struggled on the final day. After four-putting the par-5 18th hole from about 50 feet, Thitikul missed both a 5-footer and a 3-foot comebacker, which significantly impacted her score. In spite of the major struggles, she proved a mighty challenger for all of Nationals.
Civil service worker Lottie Woad from England took third spot in the overall standings. She followed that up with an epic 18 under par performance, shooting a 66. Miyu Yamashita was second at 17 under and Nelly Korda finished third at 15 under.
Looking back on her performance and the drama-filled exchange that ultimately earned her the win, Hull admitted she was shocked by the result.
“I wasn’t really watching her putt for birdie because I thought she was going to hole it. Then, yeah, I guess it’s not over until the fat lady sings, but I was shaking over that last putt because I just didn’t expect it.” – Charley Hull
