Champ Kelly Departs Raiders as Assistant GM Following Three Seasons

Champ Kelly is no longer serving as the assistant general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders, as initially reported by NFL Network. A source has since confirmed the news to ESPN. Kelly's departure marks the end of his three-season tenure with the Raiders, during which he also held the role of interim general manager in 2023 following the mid-season exit of former general manager Dave Ziegler.

Kelly's career in the NFL began in 2007 when he joined the Denver Broncos as a college scout. Over the years, he built a robust resume, spending a significant portion of his career with the Chicago Bears. During his six seasons with the Bears, Kelly took on multiple roles, including director of pro scouting, assistant director of player personnel, and assistant coordinator of pro and college scouting. He concluded his time with the Bears as the assistant director of pro personnel before leaving after the 2014 season.

After his stint with the Bears, Kelly continued to advance his career with the Las Vegas Raiders. In addition to serving as assistant general manager, he temporarily stepped into the role of interim general manager in 2023. His responsibilities increased following Ziegler's departure, showcasing his versatility and leadership within the organization.

Recently, Kelly interviewed for the general manager position with the Jacksonville Jaguars, indicating his ongoing pursuit of leadership opportunities within the NFL. His departure from the Raiders comes amid his exploration of new avenues in professional football management.
