Celtics Star Jaylen Brown Battles Through Partial Meniscus Tear

Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown ended his season on a similar note, with a partial tear of his right meniscus. This injury became his biggest hurdle. He fought through the pain over the final month of the regular season and into the playoffs. Brown sat out the Celtics’ final three regular-season games due to his injury. He adjusted his game to remain poised for the playoffs.

Even with that injury, Brown was spectacular in the postseason. In the process, he tallied 22.3 points and 7.2 rebounds per game all while dominating an astounding 34 minutes of gameplay. His desire to win, his will to fight through pain came shining through as the physical toll escalated deeper into playoffs. To combat the pain and keep his performance on the field, he was getting injections as early as March.

The Celtics and New York Knicks, Game 6, Eastern Conference semifinals. Sadly, their playoff run was cut short by a heartbreaking defeat. After the loss, Brown tweeted, “Proud of the positive campaign we ran and the example we set fighting through my adversity.”

Brown looks back on his 2023 season. Today, as we write this week’s finale episode, he awaits the verdict on whether he’ll require surgery to repair the damage to his knee. The result of this test will determine his immediate future and long-term viability on the NBA floor.
