Celtics Coaches Showcase Dominance in Pickup Game Against Media

The Boston Celtics’ coaches, led by head coach Joe Mazzulla, showcased their athletic prowess during a recent pickup game at the team’s practice facility. The event began as just an informal match between players. It almost immediately turned into an unforeseen dogfight between Mazzulla’s staff and members of the media.

Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, key players for the Celtics, observed the action from above the practice court, likely amused by the unexpected developments below. Mazzulla’s coaching staff, all proud of their former NBA IQ, displayed their understanding of the game. The result was a captivating performance beyond compare.

Mazzulla, the former West Virginia player who spent four years in Morgantown, dressed for the game with his staff. The lineup included Amile Jefferson, a 6-foot-9 forward, Phil Pressey, a guard, and Da’Sean Butler, a 6-foot-7 forward and Mazzulla’s former college teammate. The magic on the sideline God Shammgod wasn’t just a marvel on the court.

The coaches certainly won on the court, beating the media in a 12-minute game by a jaw-dropping score of 57-4. The white team, which included Mazzulla and his staff, emerged as the more athletic, cohesive unit during the far more competitive sixty-minute matchup.

“Don’t want to break it to you, but you’re not playing against each other. You’re playing against the coaches,” – Joe Mazzulla

Having that magnitude of media covering the event added a level of excitement (and a bit of chaos) to the occasion. Reporters were expecting an epic duel between the Celtics stars. They faced a harsh new world.

Noa Dalzell, a reporter covering the Celtics, commented on the experience:

“It’s hard to even describe what went down in the game. To describe it as a disaster for us reporters would be an understatement. The sheer gap in athleticism — speed, size, instincts, you name it — felt so insurmountable that I can hardly pinpoint what even went down.”

The initial game aimed at fostering camaraderie and teamwork among the Celtics players ultimately highlighted the significant gap in athleticism between the coaches and the media participants. Mazzulla and his staff’s daunting thoroughness is a tribute to their advanced study and practice of all aspects of Hoops.
