Celtic Bolster Squad with Signing of Sebastian Tounekti

Scottish Premier League club Celtic Football Club have completed the signing of winger Sebastian Tounekti for a fee of £5.2 million. This forward-thinking move strengthens their roster as they march confidently toward yet another Scottish Premiership title. The 23-year-old player, who was born in Norway and represents Tunisia, predominantly plays as a left winger but is versatile enough to operate on the right side as well.

Celtic’s manager, Brendan Rodgers, was thrilled with his new acquisition. “I’m really happy that Sebastian has joined the club and I am sure he will be a really exciting addition to our squad,” he stated. Rodgers shined a light on Tounekti’s impressive artistry. He called him a speedy, creative winger, who can play on either flank and make plays for himself and others. Our coaching staff and I couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of working with Sebastian.

Celtic entered into a set of negotiations. With two offers previously turned down, this was their third successful bid that was accepted. Celtic was hailed a brilliant Scottish win over Dundee United, led by Adam Idah’s stunning opener. They further captured attention with their headline-grabbing acquisition of Tounekti. Idah only last month joined Swansea City on loan for £7 million, continuing a makeover of Celtic’s attacking department.

Celtic opened the transfer window with high hopes and intentions, looking to sign two wingers and two strikers. Not every deal aligned with their strategies. The deal, a proposed £3 million transfer of Hyunjun Yang to Birmingham City, broke down causing Birmingham to move on and sign Patrick Roberts from Sunderland. On a related matter, Motherwell confirmed the signing of Stephen Welsh on a season-long loan.

Even with these disappointments, the signing of Sebastian Tounekti marks a serious intent in Celtic improving their squad depth. Notably, the diminutive forward had netted just twice in 25 appearances at his last Swedish club. Today, he pours all that passion, experience, and talent into our talented team. As Deadline Day wore on, Celtic fans continued to believe. They hoped that their club would follow up with further signings, with Kasper Dolberg the most notable as a top target.
