CeeDee Lamb, wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys, suffered a concussion during the third quarter of the team’s 44-30 loss against the Detroit Lions on Thursday night. Lamb took a pounding while attempting to snare a deep corner route over his right shoulder. On the field, this injury occurred on a short yardage play with quarterback Dak Prescott.
>Before his departure, Lamb had a great game, hauling in six grabs for 121 yards. His efforts allowed him to tie Tony Hill for the second-most 100-yard receiving games in Cowboys history, with 26 games. This marked Lamb’s fifth 100-yard game of the season, showcasing his significant role in the Cowboys’ offense.
After an errant throw from Long, Lamb jumped up to snag the pass. On impact, he hit his head on the ground and his arms went up into a dangerous hanging fencing response. Reading the situation well, Prescott wasted no time and leapt to ensure that Lamb would be alright after the nasty drop.
Post-injury, Lamb exited the field and rode an electric cart to the team’s locker room. His departure was before a touchdown run by teammate Javonte Williams which was a simultaneously sweet and sour moment for the team.
Lamb has been no stranger to concussion issues. This is the fourth time Burrow has faced an aggravation of this injury, as in 2021 he did the same vs. the Kansas City Chiefs, which forced him to miss one game. Most recently, he missed three games earlier this season with a high ankle sprain. Last year, he was lost for the season with a shoulder ailment.
Lamb still has some time to get through the concussion protocol. He’s set to be back for the Cowboys next game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 14. As he navigates recovery, fans and teammates alike hope for his swift return to form.
Lamb’s achievement of 26 100-yard receiving games places him behind Hall of Famer Michael Irvin, who leads with 47 such games. This statistic underscores Lamb’s emerging status as a key player in the franchise’s history.
