Despite the loss, Charlotte's Miles Bridges delivered an outstanding performance, scoring 46 points. The Cavaliers, however, demonstrated their resilience at the free-throw line by converting 43 of 51 attempts, their highest since 2007. Donovan Mitchell, who was responsible for six of the team's eight misses, impressively sank nine consecutive free throws before faltering on his final two attempts.
Throughout the game, Cleveland maintained their scoring prowess, reaching over 110 points in each of their last 13 games. The Hornets, struggling with form, have now dropped nine straight games and hold a 14-48 record. The Cavaliers initially led 67-54 early in the second half and maintained a slight edge at 87-83 after three quarters.
Charlotte mounted a spirited comeback, orchestrating a 21-8 run to take a 104-95 lead with just over five minutes remaining on the clock. However, the Cavaliers responded decisively, outscoring the Hornets 25-15 in the final stretch. A pivotal moment came when Hunter made a contested follow shot with only 43 seconds left, securing Cleveland's lead at 112-110.
Darius Garland contributed significantly to Cleveland's win, adding 20 points to the team's tally. With this victory, the Cavaliers improved their season record to an impressive 53-10. Their relentless pursuit of success continues to bolster their reputation as one of the NBA's most formidable teams this season.
