Cardinals Set to Reinstate Kyler Murray Against Cowboys

The Arizona Cardinals are preparing to reinstate quarterback Kyler Murray as their starter for the upcoming game against the Dallas Cowboys. Head coach Jonathan Gannon officially announced that Murray will be leaving the tunnel on Monday night. This is his first return after sitting the last two games with a foot injury.

Murray’s long-term absence meant he was able to heal his injured foot during the Cardinals’ bye week last week. This newfound recovery time has proven to be just what the doctor ordered not only for Murray but for the entire team. Gannon stated, “You start playing games and the train’s rolling I think for everybody. They’re rested and it looks a little bit different, so it was very beneficial.”

The Cardinals currently sit at the bottom of the NFC West standings, having lost their last five games after starting the season with two wins. With this challenging streak, Murray’s return is seen as a critical factor in revitalizing the team’s performance. Gannon emphasized two main milestones for Murray’s readiness: he must be fully healthy and able to play.

Gannon said that the tempo of Tuesday’s practice was “very encouraging.” This busy and diverse slate makes for an exciting atmosphere for the constituents as the players prepare for their next big battle.

Weinfuss has been with ESPN since 2013 and is a member of the Pro Football Writers of America. His valuable perspective not only illuminates the careful balance within the team’s culture but what Murray’s return means moving forward for the reeling franchise.
