Signature red-ball captain Cameron Bancroft has officially re-signed to a new two-year contract. Hardwick will be remaining at the Bristol County Ground until at least the end of the 2027 season. The 32-year-old player had signed for Gloucestershire in 2024. Since then, he has starred, scoring almost 4,000 runs across formats.
In February Bancroft was appointed skipper for the 2025 County Championship season. This decision underscores the club’s profound confidence in Williams’s leadership acumen. Just last week, he demonstrated his skill on the pitch by scoring 143 not out in a One-Day Cup victory against Glamorgan. His performance subtly showcased why he is such a key part of the team. Whether as a player or a leader, he was always among the best.
Mark Alleyne, Bancroft’s head coach, expressed his enthusiasm about the captain’s contract extension. “Cam is an integral part of a batting unit that has shown great potential and performance over the past two seasons,” Alleyne stated. He said that Bancroft’s dedication to the club would be invaluable to the players. This dedication to each other will greatly improve teamwork at every level.
On announcing his new contract, Bancroft said he was thrilled to be staying with Gloucestershire.
“I’m really excited to extend my stay at Gloucestershire. It’s a fantastic club with a great environment, and I look forward to contributing to the team’s success,” – Cameron Bancroft.
In truth, he has loved every minute since joining the club. We’re really looking forward to see what he does next after establishing a strong foundation the last few seasons!
“I’ve enjoyed my time here so far, and I’m eager to build on that in the coming seasons,” – Cameron Bancroft.
As Bancroft continues to wear his helmet and black and yellow kit while holding a cricket bat during practice, he remains focused on leading his team to further successes. His impact on and off the field will no doubt be crucial to Gloucestershire’s continued ambition in the coming years.
