Cam Robinson has signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans, potentially earning up to $14.5 million next season. The addition of Robinson addresses a notable gap in the Texans' offensive line, which previously lacked a suitable alternative on the roster. This move is expected to bolster the team's line-up significantly.
Robinson, who was a second-round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2017, has completed two full seasons during his career. However, his time on the field has been marred by injuries and a four-game suspension in 2023, which kept him from playing in other seasons. Despite these setbacks, Robinson's experience is anticipated to bring value to the Texans.
According to Next Gen Stats, Robinson faced challenges on the field, allowing the third-highest pass pressure rate among left tackles with at least 500 pass-blocking snaps. He also conceded nine sacks, ranking him fourth among left tackles in this category. His journey saw him making 11 starts, including postseason appearances, after joining the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9 last year as a replacement for the injured Christian Darrisaw.
Robinson's performance post-trade showed mixed results. He ranked 25th in pass block win rate and 45th in run block win rate among tackles. As he joins Houston, Robinson will be part of an offensive line featuring newly signed guard Laken Tomlinson. The Texans' line-up also includes tackles Tytus Howard and Blake Fisher, guard Juice Scruggs, and center Jarrett Patterson.
