Rumarn Burrell underlined an already magnificent performance. He found the net on two occasions, as his side Queens Park Rangers (QPR) cruised to an impressive 3-1 win against West Bromwich Albion. This point shy of full-time coming against QPR at Loftus Road on Saturday all but solidified QPR’s status in the crestfallen league table. With this win, QPR recorded their third win in four games, in an impressive return to form after a tough start to the season.
Burrell’s amazing scoring streak continued — that was his eighth goal in only ten games. The young striker’s output would go on to be the match winner and help his team gain a very important three points. He scored his second of the match in the 59th minute, taking advantage of a defensive miscue. Then Richard Kone picked off an Alex Mowatt pass. He laid on Burrell, who needed no second invitation to blast the ball home from just inside the six-yard box.
Missed Opportunities and Second Goal
Burrell’s performance was dazzling in its poise and virtue. If he ever was, he must have been positively incensed that he missed a surefire chance to double QPR’s lead. After getting the better of goalkeeper Joe Wildsmith to the ball, he fired over the bar with the goal at his mercy. Yet even this miss felt inconsequential as Burrell quickly collected himself and refocused on doing everything possible to help his team win.
In the final moments of the game, Burrell scored again in the 87th minute. His short-range goal capped a perfect start to Julien Stephan’s team’s campaign. The play that set up his second score was a perfect display of teamwork. A cross by Nicolas Madsen from the right wing found Jonathan Varane’s forehead, and the latter made no mistake as he directed it into the bottom corner. A following effort by Wildsmith bounced right into the path of Burrell who smashed in a close-range finish to claim his second of the night.

Burrell’s recent form has made him a key player for QPR coming into the weekend. His ability to find the back of the net consistently has not only boosted his confidence but has raised hopes among fans for a successful season ahead.
