Broncos Honor Legacy of Demaryius Thomas with Ring of Fame Induction

The Denver Broncos will be remembering their late great Demaryius Thomas on Sunday. They’ll honor him by inducting him into the franchise’s Ring of Fame during the 2025 season. This recognition is a tribute to Thomas’ numerous extraordinary contributions to the team. Most importantly, it serves to commemorate his unparalleled impact the Denver community. Complications from a seizure disorder took Thomas’ life on December 9, 2021, only 33 years old at his death. His contribution to the organization cannot be overstated.

Thomas was the 22nd overall pick of the 2010 NFL Draft. He spent nine seasons with the Broncos, where he cemented himself as one of the franchise’s all-time greats. He recorded at least 90 receptions and over 1,300 receiving yards in four consecutive seasons from 2012 to 2015, showcasing his consistency and skill on the field. He had a wonderful career, retiring with 724 receptions for 9,763 yards and 63 touchdowns.

His six years with the Broncos would see Thomas be named a five-time Pro Bowl selection. He is the second-leading receiver in Broncos history, with 9,055 yards—second only to Rod Smith. Furthermore, he is currently third in franchise history in receptions behind Smith and Shannon Sharpe.

In one of his most unforgettable games, Thomas took a 76-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Peyton Manning to the house in September 2013. He was instrumental in leading the team to their wild-card victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2011 season. On the very first play of overtime he scored a jaw-dropping 80-yard catch and run touchdown to seal it. Caldwell definitely played a role in Manning’s milestone moments. He’s the recipient of both the 509th and 510th career touchdown passes from the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

Thomas was traded to the Houston Texans for a fourth round pick midway through the 2018 season. He finished his remarkable NFL career after ten total seasons. He made max performance at a different level by accumulating a career-high 1,619 receiving yards in one season. Accomplishing this feat helped to cement his legacy as one of the league’s great wide receivers.

The entire Broncos organization should be reeling from the news of his induction. Fans are responding to this moment with joy and pride. Rob Walton, along with Greg and Carrie Penner, expressed their sentiments about Thomas, stating, “a testament to the indelible mark he left on our organization and community. One of the most beloved players and greatest wide receivers in franchise history, Demaryius inspired our fans with breathtaking athleticism, record-setting performances and joyful, infectious spirit.”

Peyton Manning reflected on Thomas’s impact, saying, “He was a big reason I came out to play here.”
