Brissett Secures Fourth Start as Cardinals Face Seahawks

Jacoby Brissett will be making his fourth straight start under center this Sunday for the Arizona Cardinals against the Seattle Seahawks. The Cardinals will be looking to further capitalize off their successful offensive stretch. Thus far, they’ve had great fortunes with Brissett at the helm. Add to that leadership by reserve defensive lineman Tershawn Wharton and you’ll find the D on a notable up-tick from early-season performances.

Through his first three starts, Brissett has put up some phenomenal numbers. He’s averaging 286 passing yards per game, and he’s completing a whopping 7.7 yards per attempt. He’s thrown for six touchdowns with just one pick in leading the Wildcats to a 7-0 start. Under Brissett’s leadership, the Cardinals’ offense is averaging 25.7 points and 357 total yards per game. That’s quite the step up from how poorly they performed in their first few games.

>Brissett excels on third down conversions. He has a stellar 56% conversion rate in his starts. While this has certainly made keeps drives rolling and putting touchdowns on the scoreboard. His performance has even eclipsed starting quarterback Kyler Murray in many areas like EPA per play (0.286 to -0.044). This has created a new buzz of confidence around the entire team.

His head coach, Jonathan Gannon, said he’s been really pleased with how the offense has executed with Brissett’s leadership. He noted the clarity Brissett brings to game-planning, stating, “The clarity that it provides game-planning for our team” was a significant factor in deciding to keep him as the starter ahead of the Seahawks game.

Gannon further emphasized the importance of consistent offensive performance, commenting, “We’re doing the things that are needed to move the ball, stay on the field and score points.” Offensively, the Cardinals have been sharp. This dominant showing greatly increases their probability of winning each game they play.

Brissett’s impact extends beyond the passing game. He’s scored one rushing touchdown, most memorably calling his own number for the clutch score against the division-rival Dallas Cowboys. His fierce leadership on the field has made an impact on his teammates as well. Brissett was careful to credit the rest of the offensive unit, saying, “It’s all 11 doing a good job.” He underscored the collaboration that’s been at the heart of their recent successes.

Kyler Murray’s appeared in just five games so far this season. He’s only throwing for an average of 170 yards per game, and 6.0 YPA. Even though he’s thrown for six touchdowns, he has put up three picks. This dichotomy in productivity has created doubts about the entirety of the team’s offensive plan going forward.

As the Cardinals prepare to face the Seahawks, there is a quiet but palpable confidence. This uptick is all thanks to Brissett’s remarkable play. Gannon’s choice of Brissett as the starting quarterback just days before the game signals a clear commitment to maintaining offensive stability.

“He’s doing well. He wants to be out there,” – Jonathan Gannon

The next game against the Seahawks will be critical for both squads. Make no mistake, they’re fighting tooth and nail to get an advantage in this highly competitive league. With Brissett’s performance down the stretch and this balanced team effort, the Cardinals look to ride into their second straight win.
