Brentford Forward Bryan Mbeumo Poised for Summer Departure

Brentford FC forward Bryan Mbeumo is expected to be departed Bees this summer as interest from several clubs comes in. Mbeumo arrived at the Bees in 2019 from French club Troyes for just over £4 million. Since then, he’s made a pretty big splash for as long as he’s been with the team. He has netted 68 goals in 239 league appearances for Brentford. Plus, he’s delivered on 50 assists, further evidence of his key playmaking role with the squad.

Teammate Christian Norgaard has been outspoken about his expectation for Mbeumo to move on. So I would expect Bryan to go out,” he said, reflecting the increasing expectation within the club that Mbeumo will depart.

Mbeumo’s Time at Brentford

Bryan Mbeumo has spent more than four years with Brentford. By comparison, compatriot and fellow forward Yoane Wissa only came to the club two years ago. By all accounts, during his time with the Bees, Mbeumo has ascended to the position of the club’s central figure. He always gets goals and assists, making him invaluable in his team’s quest for glory.

Brentford are in a good position when it comes to Mbeumo’s deal. He has two years left, with an option for a third year. This contractual situation places the club in control, enabling it to examine offers for their star asset without deadline-induced duress to sell. Brentford head coach Thomas Frank sounded supremely confident about his club’s position over summer player sales.

Possible Destinations and Club Strategy

Several clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea, have expressed interest in signing Mbeumo this summer, illustrating his quality as a forward. While no teams are reported yet, Brentford can be sure that he will be the subject of interest at all levels. The prevailing sentiment inside the club is that Mbeumo has done enough and deserves enough to get a chance with a bigger club.

Thomas Frank echoed this sentiment, stating, “If we sell any players, I expect it to be very few.” This suggests that Mbeumo will be the one moving on sooner rather than later. This is not the end for Brentford, as they plan to avoid overhauling their squad. Frank added, “I’m the head coach; I want my best players to stay forever,” highlighting his desire to retain key talents.

Brentford’s approach in the coming months will be to judge likely replacements should Mbeumo make the expected switch. The club will need to be on the lookout for one, if not two, new wingers who can help fill the void that his skillset would have provided.

Team Dynamics and Future Outlook

Norgaard, a current teammate of Mbeumo’s at Brentford, spoke highly of Mbeumo’s blistering run of form, calling him “unstoppable” and “fantastic.” This combination of production and proven performance has made him one of the most sought-after players for clubs looking to add firepower to their attack.

Despite reports that Borussia Dortmund are preparing a move for Kevin Schade this summer, it seems Mbeumo’s likely exit is unrelated to his future. Together with Wissa, he is hardly the only Brentford forward to have attracted interest from other teams’ scouting departments.

As the summer transfer window approaches, Brentford will continue to monitor offers for their key players while preparing for possible changes in their squad. It’s a pretty fluid situation though and lots of factors will contribute to what happens with Mbeumo.
