In 2017, the Saints pulled off one of the smartest trades ever by sending Cooks to the Patriots. In exchange, the Eagles got back their choice of first-rounder and even included a future fourth-rounder. In his one year with the Patriots, Cooks put his skill on display during a Super Bowl appearance. He left a lasting impression on one of the NFL’s largest stages. He then moved to the Los Angeles Rams, playing in a fourth Super Bowl.
Cooks’ travels didn’t stop there as the wide receiver was traded again, this time from the Texans to the Dallas Cowboys in 2023. Cooks dazzled during his first two-year stint with the Cowboys. During the 2023 campaign, he caught a career-best 54 passes, gained 657 yards and crossed the goal line eight times. Towards the end of his final season with Dallas, Cooks expressed frustration regarding his role in the team's offense.
In what’s been an incredible career so far over five different teams, Cooks has 710 receptions for 9,532 yards and 60 touchdowns. He’s just the second player in NFL history to have four 1,000-yard seasons. The only other player to do so with four different teams is Brandon Marshall. His second return to New Orleans marks the addition of a player who’s had plenty of success along the way but knows the organization inside and out.
