Bournemouth Sinks Everton in Historic FA Cup Showdown

Bournemouth emerged victorious in the FA Cup fourth-round match against Everton, securing a 2-0 win at Goodison Park. The match, held on Saturday, will be remembered as the last FA Cup game to grace the historic venue. Antoine Semenyo and Daniel Jebbison were the architects of Bournemouth's triumph, scoring in the 23rd and 87th minutes, respectively.

The match began with an intense pace as both teams sought to establish dominance. Bournemouth's Antoine Semenyo was a standout performer, converting a penalty in the 23rd minute after being brought down by a sliding challenge from Everton's James Tarkowski. Semenyo confidently dispatched the spot-kick past Jordan Pickford, marking his first goal since January 2023 and his second in just six appearances for the club.

Everton, led by manager David Moyes, had high hopes of advancing in the FA Cup, with aspirations of capturing their first trophy since 1995. However, Bournemouth's defense held firm throughout the match. Iliman Ndiaye came close to increasing Bournemouth's lead, narrowly missing a shot between the legs of Everton's goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

In a game marked by near misses, Bournemouth's Semenyo delivered a powerful 30-yard free-kick that struck the outside of the post. Similarly, Jake O'Brien and Jack Harrison contributed to the drama with efforts that also struck the woodwork, underscoring Bournemouth's relentless pressure on Everton.

As the game progressed, Everton made tactical adjustments, finishing with centre-back Michael Keane playing as a striker. Despite this change, Semenyo continued to challenge Keane and was instrumental in creating opportunities for Bournemouth. Jarrad Branthwaite blocked one of Semenyo's efforts, which followed a Marcus Tavernier shot resulting from Tarkowski's error.

The final blow came in the 87th minute when Pickford parried a shot that fell to Daniel Jebbison, who capitalized on the rebound to secure Bournemouth's second goal. This decisive strike dashed any lingering hopes for an Everton comeback and sealed Bournemouth's advance to the next round.
