Bo Nix Partners with Drew Brees to Enhance Skills

Bo Nix, the Denver Broncos’ promising quarterback, recently dedicated a week to training with NFL legend Drew Brees in San Diego. Nix was a revelation, earning Freshman All-American honors and starting every game and scoring 29 touchdowns. With this accomplishment, he became the first Broncos rookie to accomplish that feat since John Elway in 1983.

The 13-time Pro Bowl selection spent 15 of his 20 NFL seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He remains a towering figure in football history. He has led the league in passing yards seven times and topped 5,000 passing yards in five seasons. He is one of only two quarterbacks, joining Tom Brady, to reach 80,000 career-passing yards.

Nix pursued Brees to be mentored by him and carved out four or five days just learning everything he could from the veteran QB. This groundbreaking partnership underscores QB Nix’s dedication to sharpening his skills as he works to be the best vocal performance this coming season!

“It’s a term we use, but I can’t think of examples that match that term — rookie quarterbacks that excelled and then all of a sudden what happened in the second year?” said Sean Payton, head coach of the Broncos. Payton knows the challenge of the transition from rookie quarterback to second year signal caller. Heupel thinks Nix has the work ethic to succeed and that’s what will allow him to flourish.

Nix has expressed a strong desire to continue developing his skills, stating, “I will do whatever I need to do to get better.” He recognizes the importance of focusing on mechanics throughout the season, saying, “You can actually focus on things that you want to get better at. You can go out there and actually get better and work on your craft.”

Nix’s rookie season ended in a wild-card round loss to the Buffalo Bills in Buffalo. Regardless, his solid two-way play has fans and coaches buzzing with excitement. Payton remarked on Nix’s dedication: “Look, he is someone who works his tail off, wants to improve.”

Quarterback Bo Nix is back for his second season with the Broncos. The lessons he has learned from Drew Brees will be invaluable as he sets out to become the next great quarterback to come out of this league.
