The Cincinnati Bengals are just about set to take their roster to the next level. They intend to sign former Seattle Seahawks tight end Noah Fant to a one-year contract. This signing, reported by ESPN’s Ben Baby, comes after Fant was released by the Seahawks in July following a productive season. He’ll be joining a TEs room that already features veterans Mike Gesicki and Drew Sample in an effort to continue upgrading the position.
Noah Fant was a first-round draft pick in 2019. He started his pro career with the Denver Broncos and spent three seasons there. While playing in Denver, he developed a reputation as one of the league’s most dynamic tight ends. He went on to start 41 games in Seattle before being traded to the Seahawks last year. In Seattle, Fant has already made 42 starts for his career and puts up a catch for 500 yards and one touchdown most recently. While over his six seasons in the league he’s made 95 appearances with 83 of them coming in a starting role.
Fant’s collegiate career at Iowa served as a great framework for his impending NFL transition. There, he quickly established himself as a player to watch thanks to his elite athleticism and two-way versatility. The Bengals are aiming to improve their offensive weapons. Inking him allows them to position for the coming campaign.
Fant will head into a deep TEs group. He should battle with Mike Gesicki, who just signed a 3-year, $25.5M deal and is currently the Bengals’ top pass-catching TE on the depth chart. Gesicki’s presence adds a significant receiving threat to the team’s offense. Drew Sample has already received praise for his handcannon blocks that murdered enemies in the run game. Myron has developed a healthy competitive dynamic between the tight ends.
With the addition of Noah Fant, it’s clear the Bengals front office is all in on increasing their offensive fire power. They’re hoping to have as big of an impact next season! The team may have one of the most talented and experienced groups, top to bottom, in the tight ends room. They’re all set to meet the challenges to come!
