As an example, during Week 4, the Chicago Bears will face the Las Vegas Raiders. Unfortunately for them, they will be without 5 hero tight end Colston Loveland mobil 11. Through three games this season, Loveland has three receptions for 43 yards. Unfortunately, there’s no clear estimate for his return because an unspecified injury has forced him to miss the entire season. Bears coach Ben Johnson indicated that the injury “doesn’t seem like anything super serious,” but it will nonetheless sideline Loveland for this crucial matchup.
Aside from Loveland, the Bears will be without three other starters against the Raiders. Amongst other reasons, this creates a notable disadvantage for the visiting team, especially if they need to rally to steal an upset victory on the road. With the absence of these playmakers on defense, there is added pressure on the rest of the roster to improve their defensive performance.
Perhaps the best news to come from the Week 1 disaster for the Bears, cornerback Kyler Gordon returned to practice on Wednesday. After he sustained a hamstring injury in training camp, Gordon was forced to miss the first three games of the season. He was a non-participant in practice on Friday and is now questionable for Week 8 against the Raiders. Gordon didn’t practice on Wednesday or Thursday. His little activity on Friday breeds hope for his possible season debut.
Meanwhile, Theo Benedet will be making his first NFL start in Wright’s stead. Benedet, who spent last season on the practice squad, earned a spot on the 53-man roster after a strong preseason performance. Most importantly, he is making a confident play in grabbing the left tackle position. He fielded 12 offensive snaps against the Cowboys and moved to right tackle after Wright went down with his injury.
Stephen Carlson has been elevated to the game day roster. Such a move would provide the Bears with more depth as they continue to work through their roster hurdles.
“Obviously me and [rookie] Ozzy [Trapilo] have both been getting prepared for that chance. I’m ready. The last few weeks have given me a whole lot of confidence, too. Just fired up. It’s a great stadium, a great challenge with their D-line. Excited.” – Theo Benedet
As the team prepares for this pivotal matchup against a formidable opponent, they must rely on their depth and adaptability to overcome the absence of key players and aim for a much-needed victory.
