Bayern Munich Shatters Record with Historic Victory Over Auckland City

Bayern Munich recently became the first European Club World Cup champion to win by double digits, defeating New Zealand side Auckland City 10-0. This victory, 104-30, now holds the record for the widest margin of victory in the tournament’s history. That shatters the previous mark of Al Hilal’s 6-1 victory over Al Jazira in 2022. It was a comprehensive reminder of Bayern’s quality and attacking intent from the outset.

It was an experience that happened like a lightning bolt. Bayern Munich deployed their footballing class, stretching and pulling the ragtag assembly of largely semi-pro players—including estate agents and school teachers—apart at will. All three of Joshua Kimmich, Harry Kane, and Thomas Muller picked peremptory early goals that charted the tone and tenor of a quality last sixteen affair. Kingsley Coman started the scoring with a brace, one deflected, one coolly finished, showing his new direction and acumen in front of goal.

Thomas Muller greatly influenced the match with a goal right before the break. He did that historic win one better by scoring an absolutely ridiculous 10th goal. He showed his class and predatory instincts for the duration of the game. To add insult to injury, Michael Olise netted a brace, putting even more distance between Bayern and Auckland as they continued to pummel the Kiwis.

Once Jamal Musiala replaced his former Bayern Munich teammate Harry Kane, he really ignited the spark on the attacking end. He scored a phenomenal hat-trick in 21 minutes! With his pace and finesse, any semblance to shape Auckland had was upended by Musiala’s cutting movements.

Bayern Munich’s furious attack included balanced scoring from across their roster. To show just how versatile the team is, Sacha Boey scored on a set piece win by Lucas Verissimo. The German side had their scoring run finish with double-digit goals, putting both of their opponents in a state of shock and feeling outperformed.

In other tournament action, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) put on a show against Atletico Madrid, winning 4-0. The quality of the French side was clear for all to see as a brilliant booming effort from Fabian Ruiz saw them take the lead. Vitinha made it 2-0 before the break, putting the ball under Jan Oblak.

Senny Mayulu netted a third goal for PSG before Lee Kang-in made sure the trophy would be heading to the French capital with a late penalty kick. The contest highlighted PSG’s offensive firepower and proved they are undoubtedly one of the favorites to win the tournament.
