Bangladesh Cricket Icon Tamim Iqbal Hospitalized After Cardiac Arrest

Tamim Iqbal, one of the most popular names in Bangladeshi cricket, was wheeled into surgery on Monday after suffering a cardiac arrest. The 36-year-old opening batsman had featured for Mohammedan Sporting Club in Bangladesh’s Dhaka Premier League. He definitely did that between 2007 and 2023 honouring Bangladesh with his presence for 391 matches. During the match up against Shinepukur, Tamim suffered from severe chest pain and had to make drastic medical moves.

Afterward, Tamim was rushed for emergency treatment. He came through an angiogram to repair a blockage in one of his heart’s arteries with flying colors. He is still being watched closely in the hospital. His condition has drawn the ire from fans and fellow cricketers alike, all hoping for his future as well as a fast recovery.

Tamim’s illustrious cricketing career has endeared him to Bangladeshis, crowning him with the title of ‘Tigers’ captain’. He is the highest ever run-scorer in the country’s one-day internationals. Furthermore, he is the only Bangladeshi batter to have hit a century in all three formats of international cricket. His contributions to the sport extend far past the national border. He displayed his additional talent by playing professional county cricket for Nottinghamshire in England in 2011 and Essex in 2017.
