Baltimore Ravens guard Ben Cleveland found himself in legal trouble after being cited for driving under the influence (DUI) in Milledgeville, Georgia. The incident unfolded on a Wednesday evening when Cleveland, driving a Ford F-250, was stopped by police at 10:25 p.m. for failing to maintain his lane. This led to a series of events that resulted in his arrest and subsequent release on bond.
Upon being stopped, Cleveland consented to a breathalyzer test, which revealed a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .178, significantly exceeding Georgia's legal limit of .08. Following the breathalyzer results, Cleveland was placed under arrest and transported to the local jail. There, he produced a breath result of .161, still over twice the legal limit. Authorities also administered field sobriety tests, to which Cleveland agreed.
Cleveland's interaction with law enforcement further revealed his admission of consuming approximately three to four beers at a country club. He maintained that he had not consumed any alcohol within two hours before being stopped by the police. Despite this claim, the elevated BAC results led to citations for DUI and failure to drive within a single lane.
Following his arrest, Cleveland was released from custody early Thursday morning after posting a $1,000 bond. The incident comes at a crucial time as Cleveland is set to become an unrestricted free agent next month, bringing additional scrutiny to his off-field conduct.
