Ayesha Curry, known for her culinary ventures and her role as a supportive spouse, recently opened up about her relationship with NBA star Stephen Curry. In an appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, she recounted pivotal moments in their journey, from their early days to Stephen’s remarkable career in basketball.
That’s why Stephen came up to Ayesha’s hometown of Eugene, Oregon after meeting her online. By 2009, their friendship had developed into romance. That same year, Davidson native and former Davidson College basketball star Stephen Curry declared for the NBA draft following a phenomenal season. Ayesha was just trying to get through the turbulence of first love. She encouraged him to focus on his schoolwork and not make the jump directly into the pro league.
Little did we know he would eventually grow up to become a professional basketball player. He expressed that he still wanted to be a high school basketball coach. Ayesha stated during her podcast appearance. Looking back, this sentiment captures her early doubt about his chosen profession and the future that awaited him.
Even with her doubts, Ayesha still was and continues to be glad Stephen made the leap from Davidson to reach for his dreams. He did end up finishing after all and has since gone on to do amazing, awesome, rad stuff.
