Aston Villa are reportedly looking to get a Deadline Day loan deal in place for Jadon Sancho. He’s in the last year of his contract with Manchester United. According to various reports, Manchester United have a one year extension clause they can activate on Sancho’s contract. Yet so far, his trip through the Premier League has been a rougher ride than he would have hoped for.
Sancho was acquired by Manchester United for £73 million from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021. Although he spent most of last season on loan at Chelsea, the 29-year-old still managed 31 appearances, three goals and four assists. Instead, Chelsea chose to pay a £5 million penalty to escape their duty to purchase Sancho outright. They were unable to reach a salary settlement in negotiations.
Interest in Sancho has picked up dramatically from Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Their transfer windows will close on the 11th and 12th of September respectively. This might make things difficult for Aston Villa if they want to get the player’s signature before long. Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is interested in adding Sancho to his ranks.
Jadon Sancho’s time in the Premier League has not gone to plan so far but Emery knows a player when he sees one,” observed one football analyst. The potential acquisition of Sancho could bring much-needed creativity to a Villa team currently struggling in the final third of matches.
A move to Aston Villa would mirror Marcus Rashford’s decision to leave Manchester United for greater game time under Emery last season. Rashford has since revitalized his career and returned to the England national team, showcasing the benefits of such a transition.

Should Sancho get transferred to Aston Villa, he’d surely earn a lot more minutes on the pitch. He’ll get the opportunity to experience European football. Emery has a history of getting the best out of players, something which could prove crucial as Sancho looks to develop further in North London.
“It could be the perfect move for both the player and a team currently lacking a spark in the final third,” added Rowe. While Sancho’s modest return of three goals and four assists at Chelsea last season may raise questions, it is essential to consider the competitive environment within Enzo Maresca’s squad.
