Aston Villa Completes Triple Deadline Day Transfers with Sancho, Elliott, and Lindelof

Aston Villa Completes Triple Deadline Day Transfers with Sancho, Elliott, and Lindelof

Aston Villa were the biggest spenders in this summer’s transfer window, completing a Deadline Day treble with three of the day’s headline signings. The club announced the arrival of Jadon Sancho on a loan from Manchester United, Harvey Elliott from Liverpool, and Victor Lindelof as a free agent. All of these moves come as Aston Villa looks to continue bolstering its squad ahead of the new campaign.

Jadon Sancho has moved to Aston Villa on a direct loan agreement. As for Loftus-Cheek’s loan, Aston Villa will indeed pay 80% of his wages for the duration of his time at Villa Park. Sancho’s transfer follows a challenging period with Manchester United. He’d arrived in the summer of 2021 for £73 million from Borussia Dortmund and has become one of the most important cogs in the machine. Last year, he was loaned to Chelsea. He misfired badly there, which compelled Chelsea to pay a £5 million release to end their commitment to purchase him.

Jadon Sancho’s Ambitions at Villa

Sancho said he was looking forward to playing for Aston Villa and being part of their important legacy.

“It’s a massive club, and I was super excited when I heard that the club wanted me,” – Jadon Sancho

The wily winger will look to use his experience to help bring along the younger players as he looks to get things done on the field. During his time at United, Sancho has found it difficult to establish his best form. His move to Villa now presents him with a great opportunity for rejuvenation.

In his last season under Chelsea’s reign, he was barely featured. He only made two starts in 18 total top-flight appearances, tallying one goal and two assists. Now at Aston Villa, he hopes to reclaim his best form and play a pivotal role in the team’s ambitions.

Harvey Elliott’s New Chapter

Aston Villa managed to pull off a major coup with the deadline day acquisition of Harvey Elliott on loan from Liverpool. They are committed to making the move permanent for £35 million. Elliott had limited opportunities last season with Liverpool, making just two starts in the Premier League and contributing one goal along with two assists.

The young midfielder will be looking to establish himself as a key figure at Villa Park and make the most of his time on-loan. His lack of playing time at Liverpool has fueled his desire to showcase his talent in a more prominent role.

With the potential for a permanent transfer looming, Elliott’s performance at Villa could be crucial for both his development and the club’s midfield dynamics.

Victor Lindelof’s Transition

Completing the trio of free agent signings, Victor Lindelof moved from Manchester United to Aston Villa on a free transfer. The Sweden international now has 23 England games to his name. Now, having reached the last year of his contract at Old Trafford, he has taken the bold step of starting again. Over the course of his seven year career at United, he made 301 appearances. Under his guidance the club enjoyed notable success, winning both the Carabao Cup and Europa League during his tenure with the club.

I am very excited to join Aston Villa and help the club realize its ambitions and achieve even greater success.

“Hopefully, I can help the younger players with my experience, and also bring in the quality like I show on the pitch. I am super, super happy and thrilled to be part of this football club,” – Victor Lindelof

His experience, defensive capabilities and leadership qualities are sure to strengthen Aston Villa’s backline in their push for another successful top-flight campaign.
